Kiefer Sutherland Goes Ballistic for Cupcakes in Jack Bauer-Inspired Acer Ad

Acer Ultrabook - Kiefer Sutherland's Dynamite Cupcakes

As anyone who’s spent an enormous amount of time on the internet knows, the cupcake industry is fraught with danger, conspiracy and international espionage. So, who would be better to get to the bottom of this nasty business, kick some ass, and blow up some stuff than Mr.24 himself, Jack Bauer.

Kiefer Sutherland reprises a Jack Bauer-like character in this new Acer Ultrabook spot. Using his tough-guy interrogation skills he finds out where to get the essential supplies, and then sets out to create a cupcake that best fits his ‘explosive’ personality.

The ad which was released in the U.K., France, Russia and Germany today was created by Mother London and directed by Ivan Zacharias for Stink.

Star with Topher Grace in New Toshiba/Intel Social Film 'The Beauty Inside'

Toshiba/Intel The Beauty Inside - Social FIlm Experience

Last July Intel and Toshiba teamed up to sponsor ‘The Inside Experience‘ an interactive social film directed by D.J. Caruso (Disturbia) and starring Emmy Rossum (of HBO’s Shameless). Rossum played Christina, a young woman who wakes up in a strange sealed-off room, where she discovers an Intel-powered Toshiba laptop with a dicey connection to an untraceable web connection. Christina uses social media to ask for help to escape and discover the identity of her captors by posting content to her Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts. The audience could determine certain aspects within the story, influence its direction, as well as audition to star in the series themselves.

This summer the two tech firms are back to sponsor a new social film entitled ‘The Beauty Inside’, the story of Alex, a 20 something man living in Los Angeles who has woken up every day in his life with a new physical appearance (you may be seeing where this is going already). Fans can audition for the role of Alex on the ‘The Beauty Inside’ Facebook page. Since Alex’s appearance changes everyday, multiple people (both male and female) will be chosen to play the role.

The film is being directed by Sundance-Award winning director Drake Doremus and will star Topher Grace (That 70s Show), and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs the World). Episode 1 on Thursday August 16 at 3:00pm PST on Facebook.

The project was developed by LA agency Pereira & O’Dell and and production company B-Reel.

Intel & Toshiba present ‘Inside’, A Social Film Experience

Intel & Toshiba present Inside
Inside‘, an ambitious interactive film project sponsored by Intel and Toshiba, featuring director D.J. Caruso (Disturbia) and starring Emmy Rossum (of HBO’s Shameless) launched yesterday with it’s first installment. The first clip opens with Rossum’s character Christina waking up in a strange sealed-off room. Within that room is a Intel-powered Toshiba laptop (not surprising) with intermittent access to an untraceable web connection.

Eventually Christina uses the shiny new laptop and dicey connection to ask for help from her friends through her Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts. Viewers are invited to help Christina solve the clues to her location and the reason she’s been confined to the room. The contributions of viewers that best fit the storyline will be included in upcoming installments and will help shape events within the series.

On the first day, Christina’s Facebook wall featured posts from dozens of viewers as they debated the significance of a receipt and torn pieces of a Chinese food menu. One interesting clue came from a closeup of a piece of torn wallpaper featuring the name of the manufacturer. That clue led to the Acorn Wallpaper Company website, where viewers learned that these were Chinese-made wallpapers that were only imported through Los Angeles. Was this a clue to Christina’s location?

Viewers could also get involved as actors. An open-casting call ran from July 11-20 inviting viewers to audition via their webcam. The selected viewer will be featured as a character in a future installment. The Producers have made a good effort to keep the the production’s website and social accounts separate from those of the main character. Keeping the fourth wall intact even on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube can be a challenge especially with the character responding to viewers.
