ING Direct Brings Music Performance to Sydney Ferry Commuters

ING Direct Australia - Spend your morning well

I’m just coming back from a week’s vacation, and I’m thinking what better way to ease back into the morning commute than a performance of ‘Pure Imagination‘, one of my favorite songs from Willy Wonka.

As part of their ‘Spend Your Life Well’ campaign, ING Direct Australia sponsored this performance by jazz vocalist Briana Cowlishaw and string quartet Opus 4 on the ferry to Circular Quay in Sydney Harbour.

I’ve previously posted a few other orchestral flash mobs (if we’re still calling them that), including one on the Copenhagen Metro by members of the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra and a performance by Orchestra Simfònica del Vallès in Sabadell, Spain in celebration of Banco Sabadell’s 130th anniversary.

Aussie Casino Swings to Lounge Version of Welcome to the Jungle

Welcome to the Jungle“You know where you? You’re in the jungle baby, and you’re gonna die!”

A few weeks ago, hard-rock legends Guns n’ Roses were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The guys from the classic lineup (even drummer Steven Adler) all showed up to accept the honour, except for Axl Rose of course.

The honours keep rolling in, one of their best-known songs ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ has been used in a new video promoting Sydney resort and casino The Star.

The clip features American singer Bill Baker belting out the song while seated at a piano as it tours through the hotel and casino.

The video is part of the ‘There Will be Stories’ campaign from Sydney agency, The Monkeys and was produced by Revolver.

Fire & Rescue NSW Honours Everyday Heroes On Digital Statue

Fire & Rescue NSW - Be Super OrdinaryFire & Rescue NSW has partnered with Insurance Company GIO to launch a new campaign on the FRNSW Facebook page as part of their 2011 Winter (yes, it is winter down under) Fire Safety strategy.

Members of the public who take part in the eight question Home Fire Safety Audit can have their picture projected on the face of a 3 metre fireman statue that will appear in several places around Sydney.

People who complete the audit will be receive a notice when and where their face will appear.  Along with the honour of appearing on the statue, people receive a list of practical fire safety tips as well as a reminder in 12 months to take the audit again.

I was quite surprised that the audit evaluated me as a ‘High Fire Safety Risk’, so looks like I have some work to do.

My top 3 recommended action items are:

  • Testing and cleaning my smoke alarm
  • Not to leave my dryer unintended, clean the lint, etc.
  • Clean the filters in my bathroom and kitchen exhaust fans
The campaign is supported by banner ads and eDMs, and will run to September 15 with a goal of 15,000 fire safety audits. The campaign was created by Sydney agency MercerBell.
