On August 23rd, Target launched a redesign of it’s e-commerce website. Target has consistently brought a taste of their physical stores to the online world and the new site is no exception. The site features large fonts, minimal text descriptions and bright large images.
Each product features a zoomed view image, ratings and reviews and the ability to easily add the item to a shopping cart, target list, registry list or share it via email, Facebook or Twitter. The site features a Find in Store feature that checks the inventory at stores near your location.
The site tracks the products you view as you browse the site, showing you the items that you’ve viewed as well as items that other site visitors who viewed that product are also looking at. The Shopping Cart is easily reviewed at anytime with a simple rollover and not only a list of your items but an image of the item as well.
I’m looking forward to physically shopping in Target’s Canadian stores when it formally takes over Zellers in early 2013. Until then I will patiently wait for my much too infrequent cross-border shopping trips to Niagara Falls.
